Dr. Anoop ShankarDr. Anoop Shankar joined the Department of Community Medicine in June 2008 as an Associate Professor of Epidemiology. He received his training in Internal Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, in India. He trained in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from both Mahatma Gandhi University, in India and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in diabetes and cardiovascular disease epidemiology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Before coming to WVU Dr. Shankar was on the faculty at the National University of Singapore School of Medicine. His research interests are in epidemiology of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease. Dr. Shankar will provide expertise in biostatistics and epidemiology as a co-investigator with the WV PRC.
