Acknowledgment Policy for use of WVPRC Resources
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encourages PRCs to acknowledge the use of Center resources when possible and appropriate. With that in mind, we request that you acknowledge the WVPRC when issuing statements, press releases, requests for proposals, bid invitations, and other documents describing projects or programs that you are conducting as a WVPRC Investigator, Affiliate, or Community Partnership Board Member.
There are specific guidelines for publications and products that result from direct WVPRC support. In this instance, grantees must include an acknowledgment of WVPRC support and a disclaimer. Suggested text is noted below and we recognize that the acknowledgment may be modified to satisfy specific journal policies:
“This publication [report, survey instrument, journal article, etc.] is a product of the West Virginia Prevention Research Center and was supported by Cooperative Agreement Number 1-U48-DP-005004 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The findings and conclusions in this report [journal article, etc.] are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the official position of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
This policy is applicable to: (1) individuals whose salary, education, and/or research activities are funded all or in part by the WVPRC direct or institutional match funds, and (2) whose work is aligned with the WVPRC through membership in the WVPRC’s Tobacco Research Initiative program, Obesity, Metabolism, and Diabetes Program, and /or other WVPRC-sponsored Initiative.
